Chef (French)
Richard Villareal
Richard was born and raised in France in the 70’s but is originally from Vietnam. At a young age he gained his interest in cooking. While he was living with his family, he would take pride in helping them cook as he was a true gourmet. He began his culinary studies in Paris, where he achieved a diploma in French cuisine and began to grow in the food industry. He spent many years cooking in the homes of royalty from Monaco and Qatar. He was also a chef in the immigration ministry in France for four years and later worked in Mandarin’s oriental palace in Switzerland.
After some time, he decided to open his own independent catering company, which was open for 12 strong years, but sadly closed due to the pandemic; that same thing happened to his two restaurants in Thailand. His most popular catering client was the Paris yacht marina, where he provided exceptional food to many occasions. Summer seasons, though, he would always enjoy working on a yacht.
Richard loves carrying his tennis racket everywhere he goes and hunting for a competition. During his travels, he always discovers something unique from the culture and interpretates it into his recipes, as he thrives off a challenge. He shows passion in cooking Vietnamese, Japanese and Thai Dishes, however, is confident with all cuisines including Italian, Mediterranean and many more.
